A native of Hopewell, Virginia, Shakyra “Ky” Johnson is a creative currently residing in Dallas, Texas. Ky’s art speaks for itself, transmitting love and light into the world through music and other creative outlets. Art has always been found at the core of Ky’s endeavors and, at the core of her art, love.

With a diverse musical background, Ky’s extensive performance experience includes singing at weddings, regional conferences, various events, and local competitions. Some of her released music includes “Too Broken to Love” (2016) and “See You Later” (2017), a tribute to her late father. “Find a Heart” (2020), her first fully self-produced work, tackles the difficult conversation of race relations in America. Her most recent release entitled “Black Girl Magic” (2021) celebrates the dynamic beauty of Black womxnhood.

In addition to her musical experience, Ky also has her hands in the visual and performing arts. She has created cover art for other musical artists and painted commissioned pieces that address current events and social justice issues. Ky is also the voice of Mickey, also known as “Chant”, on an anime series entitled “Bond of the Blade” produced by Animaine Sparkster.

The primary aim of Ky’s music and art is to communicate her personal experiences in ways that are relatable and spread love through the power and beauty of artistic expression. This site serves as a catalog of Ky’s body of work to fulfill that purpose.
